The First Emergency Distribution
IF THESE 140 WOMEN FAIL TO RECEIVE FOOD, THEY WILL NOT ABLE TO TAKE NEEDED ARV MEDS TO FIGHT THEIR HIV. THEIR SECONDARY ISSUE IS COV-ID19.
As we struggle with the challenges that the corona virus has brought to our country, our families, ourselves – we are also painfully aware that the poor in Kenya are impacted many times over.
IMMEDIATE PROBLEM – 140 women, mostly HIV+, are part of a self-help endeavor in 6 Kenyan slums. Because of the country’s shut-down, these women are struggling at this moment, to find food for themselves and their family. If they have no decent food, their ARV Medications become toxic and they are not able to take them.
WHY? The marketplaces in the country of Kenya are being shut down (as are ours). This self-help group of women are usually able to sell their crafts in Kenya and in the USA via the Tuko Pamoja organization.
SOLUTION – This weekend, The Ed Colina Foundation is attempting to spread the word and raise funds to assist these women and their children, via direct food relief from our friends at the Tuko Pamoja organization.
$40 per month is needed, per family. This will bridge this difficult time. Bags containing the following food will be distributed directly to each woman. It has already begun!
